Anyone who has been bass fishing more than a couple of times will no doubt be aware that finding the best bass fishing lures is not an easy task. There are a host of factors to consider, and an even greater number of opinions to take into consideration.
The first thing to think about as far as the type of lures that will work best for you is to examine what has worked in the past. Also, lures tend to work different for each angler’s style. Therefore, consider what people with similar styles to your are using.
Lures come in a kaleidoscope of colors nowadays, but still, blue, black, red and green seem to perform the best. Whilst blue and black jigs are the most common, there are many leading protagonists in the sport that swear by them. It isn’t all in the color though.
The season in which you are fishing will be a factor, too. For example, in the spring time, bass like to spawn. As such, they can be hooked with lures that bear a resemblance to lizards and other creatures that are predatory for their young.
Budgetary concerns will also need to be taken into account. If you are able, though, why not have a little fun one weekend. Buy up the store and head out with a host of colors, types and sizes to see where it gets you.
If only, of course we are unlikely to be able to do this. And for new comers to the sport, you need a certain direction. As such, the best bass fishing lures are often the most affordable. Start with a package of six inch green or black plastic worms, and of course the black and blue jigs. If you intend to put in some early hours, chartreuse and white spinner bait is excellent.
The final tip, is to consider where you are fishing of course, as the best bass fishing lures can vary from lake to lake. Have a chat with the local tackle and bait store and see what advice they can give.
One of the beauties of bass fishing is that nothing is guaranteed, and no inch is given. It is man, (or woman), pitted against nature. Therefore, even if you do happen upon the best bass fishing lures, the fish will still have a chance.
