colder temps = smaller bait?

I was just reading how colder water temps slows down the metabolism of a largemouth.. so although it suggests that a larger bait will generally still bring in a larger fish – it's also a reccomendation that since thier metabolism slows down in cooler temps that it makes sense to use smaller baits to accomidate their reduction in feeding… I am wondering if anyone has tried this during the cooler months and has noticed better luck with smaller baits?

i have definitely found a difference when using smaller baits during the colder months. but up north i think you can't go wrong with a smaller bait. for example we were visiting a lake for a couple of days. we were using large crankbait and swim baits and weren't catching anything. went to walmart and bought a couple of small, about one and a half inch, lures. they worked great! especially the natural colored lures
