News reports are saying that there is now a new world record largemouth of 22LBS and 5 OZ.  Manabu Kurita, a professional angler, pulled this largemouth from one of the oldest lakes in the world - Lake Biwa, Japan's largest lake.

If confirmed this will actually tie the current record of 22LBS 4OZ which was set by George W. Perry on June 2, 1932 and pulled from Montgomery Lake in Georgia.  The International Game Fish Association requires new world records of fish 25 pounds or less to weigh two ounces more than the previous one.

Here is some video from the Japanese coverage:

What is your personal best Largemouth catch?? Reply to this post to share… Tell us how and where you got it…

It was reported that it was caught with live bait (either a bluegill or a native fish similar to a bluegill)

I believe they stated the fish died during all of the weighing  etc….., I am sure it will be on the wall but where is the biggest question, I would think he must have already received offers for this fish @ Bass pro, Cabelas, Gander mountain??

largemouthThe largest Largemouth for me was somewhere between 8 and 10 pounds. I didn't have a scale with me when I caught this lunker on a Berkley pumpkin plastic worm. I caught her last year in Lake Terrell in Ferndale, Washington. Yes Verginia, there are largemouth in Washington state.
