I was wondering what people like like for big fish lures?????

I will start  with my favorites:

1 Jig

2 Frog

Just curious as this has worked for me the last few years. If you were to ask me this question 15 years ago I would of said :

1 Grub

2 Jitterbug

I am curious if it is just confidence with the lures you throw or does certain baits produce Big Fish????

I tend to like…

1. Large Beetle spinner. (large walleye, Northern Pike)

2. White Mepps "Musky Killer" (but I've never pulled in a musky, more of a large mouther)

To add to the question…. What are your 2 favorite lure brands? Just something I've been wondering.

1. Mepps

2. Berkley PowerBait

Hey thanks man!!!!

I had this jig I bought at a rummage sale and it kicks ass!

It's a Omega: The Revelation Swim Jig.

So I 2nd this lure. It's not my most successful but I will say I do like to use it.

Caynon

Jigs are great and we have one tied on every time we go out on the water. The best part of using a jig is their is never a bad spot to throw it…. Shallow / Deep / Rock / Wood ETC

SOOOOO I took your advice. Threw on a jig. Just a medium sized white head jig, with some power bait tail for some flavor.

I got hit ALL DAY! Again my Brother and I walked real far back in the woods and found a super small clearing on the edge of a river bed, I haven't been able to find the name of. There was a fresh rain the night before so the spot was about an inch of water where we stood. We just slushed through it and pushed some branches out of our way. Started casting and it was all fun from there on out. My Brother was using our (until now) favorite lure.  A medium sized beetle spinner. I was thinking about what you said and popped that jig on…

At first I was reeling it in rather fast… Then I slowed it down and gave a little jerk to it to get the tail flashing in the mucky water. It wasn't until I pop dragged it across the bottom that I started getting hits! There were some great fun sized large mouths down there. I even ended up snagging a 20 inch northern.

I'll post pics after this. It was awesome I just wanted to thank you for kinda getting me to try something different. I think I won my brother over as well. :)

That is great, glad you tried the jig and had luck. Do not be worried to try a few dark color ones as well. I also like to use a crash fish looking trailer on them that matches the base color of the jig.

Thanks and would love to see the pictures when you get a chance.

Been fishing too much to even post the photos. I'm up north in the St. Germain area. Didn't get a single bite today….. Was a beautiful day tho. Going to a hidden river tomorrow. Wish me luck!
