I have done some more homework in regard to the legality of the Alabama Rig. It is legal in New York and Connecticut. It is illegal with three or more hooks/lures with hooks in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont and New Hampshire, meaning you can use it with two hooks or less.

I had the pleasure of trying one this past year. If used in the right situation (and the window is small) they shine. But as an every day bait it will not improve your catch rates at all. Under the right circumstances the rig works, but because those circumstances are very short during the season it's limited for increased success overall.
