I had a chance to pair up with my Partner John and grab the passenger seat for a few hour out of the Oxbow today. We made our way to the ramp around 1:15 launched his boat and headed out towards the river. John decided to try a few spots south of the ramp. We made our way to the first spot, our plan was to try and catch some deep hole smallies. Both John and I bombarded this spot with only 1 smallie that followed but did not want to commit. We decided to try a few of the water inlets to see if they were still cruising the shallows no luck there either. I was enjoying the weather but would suffer through some wind and rain at this point as we both just wanted a few nice smallies to hit. We decided to spend the last of the daylight hours running and gunning from spot to spot in search of a few desperation bites NO LUCK!. We decided to spend the last of the trolling motor batt life we had trying to catch a few large mouth. The river level is still up and the current was still very strong. All in all still great to get out for a few hours and enjoy some laughs. Thanks John, maybe next time we will fill the boat.
