If you are strictly an open water fisherman (in other words you don't ice fish, or even if you do) now is a great time to clean and maintain your fishing reels. This greatly extends the life of the reels and gives added benefits in overall performance. As dirt and foreign materials build up in the reels it hinders operation and causes excessive wear on gears and bearings. Many people who have reels they believe no longer work properly and/or are broken actually only need to be cleaned and lubricated. Many people are also afraid to disable reels for fear they might cause damage or lose parts. If you go online you can find many great resources to teach you how to break down and repair reels. Look on YouTube or go to Bassmasters.com and you can find numerous information on cleaning and maintaining all types of reels.

If you do decide to clean and maintain your reels you will be extremely happy with the results. It will also save you money by increasing longevity of the reel and keeping you from purchasing a new reel to replace your "broken" reel.

Well, I could do this for you. But you can't hold me responsible if something happens to them. I can't afford to fix or replace them if they were to break. It would have to be at your own risk. I haven't broken one of mine yet, so I have a good track record… Wink
