This is the article from Channel 22 news

SOUTHWICK, Mass. (WWLP) – Southwick Police have recovered the body of 44 year old Dong Soo Kim of Chicopee from the Congamond Lakes, according to Officer Paul Miles.

Kim jumped in the water Saturday afternoon to rescue his 8 year old daughter, who fell overboard from their family boat. He never surfaced. His daughter was rescued by a nearby boater.

Rescue crews staged their operations along the lake on Echo Road. Police and fire crews were assisted by Massachusetts DEP and canine units. Lt. Ricardi told 22News this is the first time they've deployed the specially trained canines, who can detect human scent on the surface of the water.

"I don't understand this at all. It's happened way too much, and a life is very fragile," said David Leveille of West Springfield as he watched rescue boats at work. Leveille has been fishing at Congamond Lake for years. And like many enjoying Middle Pond on Saturday, he was shocked to learn of the third drowning here in four months time.

Residents along the lake say they can't imagine what is causing these tragedies to occur on such placid waters

I was fishing the WMBT tournament there yesterday when this happened.. the nearby boater who saved the little girl and administered CPR was fishing in the tournament.. it was Ed and Ed Roszinski (I know I spelt that wrong). They were directed to the location by people on the shore and were able to pull the girl from the water start chest compressions and get her to shore.. Ed and Ed you guys saved that little girl and are heroes in my eyes..

Ed and Ed also went on to win the tournament with an impressive 20.52 LBS…..

A couple of other guys in the tournament pitched in and helped with the rescue recovery efforts (John Goodhind and Ed Bielunus)… Good job all you guys who helped…..

Chris Thanks for posting the information for us all…

I am at a loss for words but all I can add is Thanks to Ed and Ed for making this very sad situation a bit brighter.
